Movie-Watching Vacation

December 29th, 2007 • Posted in Movies

Since we have the week off and didn’t have any travel plans, it was a good time to catch up on some movie watching. In addition to seeing Sweeney Todd in the theater on Christmas with my family, we’ve rented a bunch of movies:
Helvetica
Awesome! Required viewing for anyone interested in graphic design. The film goes […]

Holiday Traditions

December 28th, 2007 • Posted in Food, Movies, Life

Another Christmas has come and gone. The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas seemed to whiz by this year. December was an extremely busy month at work for both Pip and I, so we didn’t do much in terms of decorating the house. I wouldn’t say I was “bah humbug” about the whole holiday season, but […]

Good Movies

February 1st, 2007 • Posted in Movies

The cold weather has been a good excuse to stay inside and catch up on some movie watching. Here are some DVDs that I’ve enjoyed this past month.
Saving Face
A Chinese-American lesbian daughter and her traditional mother each have secrets about their love lives. Exploring issues around family, race, culture and sexuality, I found this sweet […]

So You Mean That Man That Tried To Stick a Rubber Fist In My Anus Was a Homosexual?

We did go see Borat Thanksgiving night with my family. Not exactly a holiday film, but man, it’s probably the funniest movie I have seen in a long time. I still chuckle when I think about it.
Here’s an interesting article on what’s real in the film.

Sketches of Frank Gehry

November 25th, 2006 • Posted in Movies

We watched the film Sketches of Frank Gehry. It was very interesting to see his creative process. Pip and I had the pleasure of visiting the Guggenheim in Bilbao in 2001. It looks like some incredible silver sea animal exploding out of the river. It was great to learn more about the man behind […]

I just discovered Flock, a new Mozilla browser that has features that integrate with flickr and blogs. Since I’m finding myself obsessed with flickr at the moment, I thought I would give it a whirl.
I posted a new episode of The Velvethead Lounge. It includes a few incredible tracks I just picked up from In […]

All Aboard!

I was able get a couple of tickets for the Frameline San Francisco premiere of Rosie O’Donnell’s documentary, All Aboard, about her cruise line for LGBT families. It was held at the Regency and presented by HBO. Kelly O’Donnell (Rosie’s wife), the director and a 17-year old teeanger who was in the movie and has […]

Lazy Movie Weekend

February 26th, 2006 • Posted in Food, Movies

Last week was short because of President’s Day, and with having to squeeze five days worth of work into four I was pretty tired. On Friday, we had a few people over and hung out. It was nice to not have to leave the house to celebrate the weekend!
The next day we had no desire […]

It’s been an event-filled week…

First of all, we’re starting our new party Bent this Thursday 12/15. A party for boys and girls of all perversions and persuasions! Come and join the fun! We have a website that we’re still constructing. In the future, we hope to have more content link podcasts.
Last Wednesday, my group at […]

The Fire and The Angel

November 20th, 2005 • Posted in Movies, Life, Music

It’s been a tradition with Michele, Kurtis, Jaren and Sharon to take the day off go see a Harry Potter movie on the Friday it premieres. Since Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire was coming out, Michele flew home. Coincidentally, Depeche Mode were playing at the HP Pavillion that night, so we planned the […]
