Crab Dip

December 23rd, 2008 • Posted in Recipes

Pip’s mom makes a killer crab dip. It helps that she comes from Cajun country where the crab is pretty damn good. Pip received a request to share, so I thought I’d blog about it and share it with everyone.
1 eight ounce package of cream cheese
1 stick of butter
2 green onions, thinly sliced
2 shakes of […]

Sunday in the Kitchen

We made a lot of good food today. For breakfast, I baked some Pumpkin Muffins. We saw the recipe on Food Network, and it seemed pretty healthy. I hardly ever bake and I’ve never made muffins before, so I was happy with the results. The pumpkin keeps the muffin moist and provides some good nutrition. […]

We got the desk we bought last weekend delivered this morning, so I’ve spent the whole day going through the stacks of stuff that have been accumulating and trying to file it away. One of the things I found was the mojito recipe that Pip used a couple of summers ago. It seemed we were […]

Jan’s German Chocolate Cake Frosting

August 27th, 2006 • Posted in Recipes

Pip’s mom makes the best german chocolate cake. For the cake, she just uses a standard cake mix out-of-the-box, but what makes it special is the frosting that she makes from scratch.
1/2 cup butter
1 1/3 cups sugar
10 oz. evaporated milk
4 egg yolks, beaten
2 2/3 cups coconut *
1 cup chopped pecans (can add more to taste)
2 […]

Hummus & Pita Chips

I’m going to start saving recipes on my blog. I don’t know how many times I’ve rummaged around for this recipe. It’s an old-standby and crowd favorite, and it can be put together quickly and easily.
3 cans garbanzo beans
4 cloves garlic
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
juice of 1 lemon
about 1 Tablespoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup […]

Just for the Halibut

September 5th, 2005 • Posted in Food, Recipes

Last night, Pip and Rochelle made another incredible meal together. Chaz has a friend who caught some halibut in the Pacific and gave him some, so we made an event out of it by finding a recipe fit for such a gift. The recipe is based on one from the Willliams-Sonoma Fish cookbook — halibut […]
